The Lion and the Jewel by Success Olatuja

The lion And my Jewel

How sweet it is to taste
The beauty of you sidi my lover
The beauty of. A woman bright more than a thousand stars
The smile of an angel that melts the land

With my degree of knowledge
A master of the western world
Sidi oh sidi how your love's fills my leaking heart
Why be so stubborn and not be mine

Sidi a beauty never seen
Sidi a tale told over a thousand cities
The banner of a local town
The fairest of the land amongst maidens

Warning to the filthy village men
Who try to fish in my golden river
Who try to climb the stars with their dirty hands and short legs
And toast my beauty of unseen value

My Betrothed to be
How else shAll I prove my love to you
My words do soothe the  burning sun to cool
Oh how then more difficult shall yours continue to be

If sadiku shall continue to be
Shall you break the guard of conscience and leave me to me?
Shall you think to be of baroka's
And leave the teacher for the lion

Oh how my heart is but Broken
When my love kneels for an infidel
How pained am I?
When my world feeds a scoundrel in love

Beauty lost on a common ground
Your dignity washed upon the shores of pity
How broken my heart is
Love oh love...did it have to be me

I am lost
My heart is filled with want for my sidi
Could this be blood I see
Coming from the land where no man has been

Baroka the deciever
The taker of the morning sun in my land
But my unwavering love for you still stands
But Sadly no more bride price

With my tears filling the river
So my lover left my serenity in dire jeopardy
What lost what more
This is my story of sidi my queen
